The challenges of hiring a van to move furniture

Moving homes or offices is no easy feat and if you don’t plan properly, it can take more time and effort than is necessary. In addition to that, hiring a professional moving company can be costly and if they are not careful, they can damage your furniture. One option many people opt for is van hire. It might seem easier and cheaper to rent a van to move your furniture but that too can come with its problems. Here are some of the challenges you can face when you hire a van to move your furniture:

Choosing the right van is not easy

One of the challenges I have faced when working with van hire near me is finding a van with enough space to move all of my furniture effectively. Not every van can accommodate large boxes or multiple people at the same time. If you don’t choose wisely, you could end up making several trips back and forth which is not only time consuming but, a waste of fuel as well.

Timing is everything

Van hire is quite tricky in that it requires knowing exactly when to book your desired van. At the end of the day, other people are also planning to rent a van and there is a chance that someone might rent the one you want to use. To avoid this clash, I would advise working closely with the van hire company and keeping track of their schedules. Unfortunately, it’s possible for the van to be free when you are too busy to move or when you are not all packed up yet.

The possibility of being scammed is high

The marketplace is overflowing with multiple companies looking to make a name for themselves. Unfortunately, it is also filled with scammers looking to make a quick buck and they have no morals when it comes to scamming people of their hard-earned money. When the pressure of moving takes over, you might be in a rush to find a van fast which means you won’t do as much research as you should. Before you know it, you are stuck working with an inefficient van or paying extra because the van you rented broke down during the move.
Sometimes, even reputable companies can scam you by charging extra fees for services you don’t really need. These include manual labor and accessories for moving that you can always find for yourself at a lower cost.

I know these challenges can make moving seem impossible but, if you are fully prepared and if you take enough time to do your homework on the van hire company of your choice, you should be able to move without a lot of hassle. Moving is stressful in general but it should be too difficult if you work with a reputable company and hire a van that offers enough space to carry all of your furniture. Ideally, you want to move it all in one go but, two or three trips are fine as well.
